It happened during Christmas break one time I was heading home from college in St. Louis. It had been snowing lightly during the day, but a major storm was coming the following day so I had to either leave right then or stay in St. Louis for 3-4 days (which unfortunately I couldn't do because of committments back home). So I decided to play it safe and go home via Memphis, which takes longer but is a lot further South (and presumably safer from bad weather). Anyway, I was about 75 miles outside of Memphis on I-55 (being careful and trying to drive much more slowly than normal) when I came up on a huge patch of black ice. I knew the moment I felt it that I was screwed. The Z skidded - doing 2 full 360 degree turns - and came to a stop. Here is the miraculous part... not only did I avoid the center concrete barrier AND all of the other cars on the road, but I ended up in a snowbank on the shoulder with no damage to me OR the car. I needed a tow truck to pull me out of the snowbank, but other than that the Z was fine. Somebody was definitely watching out for me... - RightD
